Dallas, TX — Jul 23, 2015 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) — Fresh on the heels of the announcement of the results of the first ever Global Women Entrepreneur Leaders Scorecard, REVTECH Accelerator currently is home to two women-owned startups, The Citizenry and Everthread. Both have experienced remarkable growth right out of the gate.
“At REVTECH, we’re focused on the funding of retail tech, as retail is a sector in which North Texas has competitive advantage. Funding of women-led startups is a major way to build America’s competitive advantage. One thing I love about retail tech acceleration is the number of applicants we receive from female entrepreneurs. Forty percent of our investments this year are in women-led startups.” says REVTECH’s Managing Director, David Matthews.
He continues, “According to the report, if women started growth-oriented businesses, across all industries, at the same rate as men in the next two years, 15 million more jobs would be created in the United States alone.”
Everthread, a custom fabric printing solution for interior design, is led by CEO Nicole Mossmon. “I am prouder than ever to see more and more women on the landscape of what is a traditionally male-driven sector of tech entrepreneurship. REVTECH Accelerator is playing an important role in making that happen.”
The Citizenry co-founders Rachel Bentley and Carly Nance have seen explosive growth in their company since their August 2014 launch. The Citizenry partners directly with artisans and sells to consumers online to deliver ethically crafted home goods without the markup of luxury boutiques. “Our business model is built on relationships with over 200 artisans across three countries, many of whom are also women. We saw the opportunity to connect these groups and their amazing artistry to the global market and in turn, create more value for both consumers and producers.”
Women make up slightly more than half of the population in the United States. In 2012, almost 58 percent of women aged 16 and over were in the U.S. workforce, and a little over 50 percent were in management, professional and related jobs. Women know what women want, and the technology exists to make ideas a reality – now more than ever before. This is the time for women to take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
