(Miami, FL) – The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU is pleased to announce the hiring of Ana Martinez as Director of Development. Martinez is a nonprofit fundraiser and development expert with a proven track record of creating successful initiatives.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Ana Martinez as the new Director of Development for the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU,” said the Director of the Museum, Dr. Jordana Pomeroy.
“Ana comes to us with years of fundraising experience, having secured significant support from foundations, companies, and individuals. Her understanding of the nonprofit world and her vision for the success of the Museum’s financial future will help define our organization’s strategic goals over the next five years,” adds Dr. Jordana Pomeroy.
Martinez joins the Frost Art Museum FIU after serving as Chief Director of Philanthropy and Creative Strategies at The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade where she oversaw development and marketing/communications.
During her tenure at The Women’s Fund, Martinez spearheaded new initiatives that celebrated the power of philanthropic giving among Hispanic women; programs to foster youth civic engagement, grant-making, leadership and philanthropy; and the Women’s Fund Young Professionals Group (now 400+ members strong). Prior to this position, Martinez was the Southeast Regional Director for Friends of the Orphans (now known as NPH: USA), an international non-profit organization.
In her new role at the Museum, Martinez will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan and long-term fundraising objectives, cultivating a dedicated donor base for the Museum, and increasing contributions for expanded programming as well as endowment growth.
“I am very pleased to join the team at The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU during this exciting new phase,” said Martinez. “You can literally feel the energy in the air, and I look forward to meeting the Museum’s many supporters and helping further engage our community on behalf of this dynamic cultural institution.”
Before moving into the non-profit sector, Martinez worked in television production including positions at MTV Latin America, and as a producer at Telemundo and at Univision (where she received an Emmy Award for the popular Cristina program).
In 1999 Martinez was an arts entrepreneur, creating Words Unlimited, Inc., and founding Words and Music, a bilingual literary and musical event dedicated to promoting cultural arts in South Florida.
She holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania. Martinez is a native of Cuba, was raised in New York City and has lived in Miami since 1986.
