The Community Chest Raises $30,000 for Charity at Oktoberfest

Press Release – (Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; November 8, 2018) — Glasses were raised for charity at the third annual Oktoberfest at The Community Chest on October 18 at the Englewood Field Club in Englewood, New Jersey. The event kicked off the organization’s annual campaign and raised $30,000.

“Oktoberfest at The Community Chest was a success. People throughout the community came together to support The Chest and raise funds that provide social, cultural, recreational, and educational services to residents of all ages in eastern Bergen County. This festive occasion kicked-off our 2018-2019 annual campaign to provide grants to nonprofits respond to needs in the community,” said Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, Executive Director, The Community Chest.

Guests enjoyed a great selection of craft beers sponsored by The Alementary Brewing Co., a light dinner and delicious fare prepared in Bavarian style, and specially made gingerbread cookies. A live auction offered culinary and other opportunities, a raffle, and prizes. A special feature in this year’s Oktoberfest was the addition of a wine pull. Everyone who purchased a wine pull ticket won a bottle of wine.

Founded in 1933, The Community Chest, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, has supported local not-for-profit agencies for 85 years. The Chest leads initiatives and supports nonprofits that make our communities stronger and benefit people in need in eastern Bergen County. Each year, The Chest raises funds and allocates them to agencies demonstrating the capacity to provide services to local citizens. The organization also provides coordinating and planning services in its communities, serving as a bridge between agencies and organizations and investing in the stability and quality of the service network.
