CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (June 19, 2014) – The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival, a program of Fevered Dreams Productions will present documentaries from around the globe Wednesday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, in venues throughout the historic Chagrin Valley. The Festival is celebrating its fifth year and expecting attendees from around the world.
A record number of documentaries from 45 countries have been submitted for potential showing at the five-day Festival, with the final lineup to be announced in August.
“With the number of documentaries submitted and attendance steadily growing each year we’re anticipating a record crowd for our fifth anniversary,” said Mary Ann Quinn Ponce, Festival Director. “As in previous years, we’re expecting attendees from not only Northeast Ohio, but from around the world.”
Ponce added that the Festival is unique because it not only shows great documentaries, but celebrates the passion and drive of the documentary filmmaker.
The influence of the Festival has received recognition in recent years from the film community, with the Festival being named for the second year in a row in 2014 to the MovieMaker Magazine’s list of “Top 50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” a prestigious recognition for such a young Festival. In 2013, more than 6,000 people attended the Festival.
A number of events, in partnership with the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre, are planned to inspire both the filmmaker and audience, including:
- Opening night film and reception
- Panels on industry topics
- Guest speakers on timely issues highlighted by specific films
- The Festival’s annual “Popcorn Awards”
- Theme events at local restaurants
- Social and networking opportunities
- And much more
“We’re very proud of the growth and the spirit of this Festival. The worldwide recognition that the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival has received is directly related to our community’s devotion to welcoming films and filmmakers from around the world to Chagrin Falls,” said Thomas Brick, Mayor of Chagrin Falls. “We look forward to an amazing fifth anniversary Festival experience in October.”
