Press Release – Severe bleeding is the top cause of preventable death in trauma is bleeding. 20% of people who have died from traumatic injuries could have survived with quick bleeding control. National Stop the Bleed Day on March 31, 2018 is a call to action for people to train in life saving techniques.
Stop the Bleeding Coalition was founded for the purpose of educating and advocating for the prompt access to life-saving, easy-to-use hemorrhage control resources. Whether a professional rescuer or a layperson immediate responder, anyone can administer simple medical care to victims that stops severe bleeding.
The Coalition is just over a year old but already numbers more than 1200 members, including doctors, nurses, first responders, rescue workers, EMTs, parents and concerned citizens from across the United States. It was formed to be an information resource for the growing number of people and organizations who recognize that training and equipping the public to Stop the Bleeding will save lives.
Traumatic bleeding can result from natural disasters, accidents or intentional events such as mass shootings…More trained people means the potential for more lives saved.
Stop the Bleeding Coalition’s Dr. Matthew Levy states “The Coalition is thrilled to help promote National Stop the Bleed Day. Through efforts such as these, more people can gain the knowledge and skills to save the life of someone who is bleeding severely”.
The Coalition has issued a Call to Action to its members for the upcoming National Stop the Bleed Day on March 31, 2018. Members are planning training sessions and charity drives are planned across the country, from Massachusetts to Texas to California.
The Coalition serves to help connect people seeking to learn how to Stop the Bleed, as well as those seeking to develop bleeding control programs and those looking to learn more with information and resources. In addition, the coalition also offers Bleeding and Trauma Control Kits for purchase at its website and partners with Amp Your Good so that organizations can conduct charity drives to raise kits for their community.
