Pajama Program Introduces ‘Good Night Advisory Council,’ a Team of Sleep Experts from Across the U.S.

The Council will advise the national nonprofit on its expansion efforts and programs, helping reach more children and caregivers

Press Release – New York, NY – March 14, 2019Pajama Program, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting a comforting bedtime routine for all children to help them thrive, is pleased to announce its Good Night Advisory Council, a group of eight professional sleep experts who will support the nonprofit’s mission with guidance, expertise, and research-based practices.

The Council includes experts in the biology of sleep, socio-emotional health and development, health promotion and equity, public policy, and program design and implementation. Members represent professional disciplines including medicine, population studies, neurology, public health, and psychology. They specialize in sleep behavior and health, neurobiology, and child development. While some are national figures, all are thought leaders who are passionate about children’s sleep and bedtime.

“As a longtime researcher-advocate of sleep health for all children and adolescents, it is exciting to help ensure that Pajama Program’s work is sleep smart!” said Council member Amy R. Wolfson, Professor of Psychology, Loyola University Maryland.

The newly formed Council’s knowledge, experience, and expertise will help Pajama Program plan and execute caregiver programs for Pajama Program’s Community Partner organizations, for the families and children the organization supports, and—more broadly—to support the public as the organization builds sleep resources to share on its website for public use and reference.

“Pajama Program knows a lot about distributing pajamas and books to children and how that supports a comforting bedtime routine—we’ve been doing it since 2001 and have distributed over 6 million to date. But when we committed ourselves to developing and launching programming for caregivers, we were venturing into new territory,” said Pajama Program’s Executive Director, Jamie Dyce. “We knew we needed a guide—a group of them, actually—to help us with new ways to promote and support comforting bedtime routines. So, in the fall of 2018, we set out to convene the Advisory Council. We are thrilled to announce their partnership with us.”

Good Night Advisory Council members include:

Pajama Program invites like-minded partners to join their efforts in leveraging the expertise of the Good Night Advisory Council.

“We look forward to meeting and welcoming new partners as we continue to expand our national programming through our work with the Good Night Advisory Council,” said Dyce. “Together with our partners and the Council, we can deepen our impact and improve the lives of children and their caregivers.”
