Mending Kids’ 5th Annual Ironfly Golf Tournament Hits A Hole-In-One

Mending Kids recently held its 5th annual, sold-out, Ironfly Golf Tournament at the Alister MacKenzie designed, Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California. Proceeds from this event and other Mending Kids fundraisers provide pediatric surgeries around the globe and right here in the United States, for children whose families would otherwise be unable to afford them.

The 28 golfers who participated in this event are top executives from Deloitte, Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, Sidley Austin LLP, and many other local companies. Upon arriving at the Van Nuys Airport, the golfers experienced the full VIP treatment as they dined on handmade crepes by Crepes Bonaparte and walked the red carpet. They were gifted with Ace Rivington sweaters and with leather bags from the Herbie Line of Junior Drake by Dennis Brown. Tesla was also on site showcasing the award winning Model S before golfers were flown by private jet, care of B Jets to San Jose. Participants were taken by limo to Pasatiempo Golf Club, which is ranked #24 on Golf Magazine’s list of the Top 100 courses in the US. The guests enjoyed gourmet food, an array of beverages and were tended to by private concierge.

The tournament featured several contests including a hole-in-one with a $50,000 cash prize. Dr David Kulber, Dr. David Fermelia, Ted Kaplan and Dr. Alan Zaentz comprised the winning team of the tournament. After cocktails on the veranda of the historic golf club’s restaurant, The Charity Angels helped Mending Kids raise funds from a live auction and a Mend-a-Child Board to help fund surgeries. This Ironfly event raised almost $70,000.

Those interested can reserve one of the very limited spots for the 2015 Ironfly event on a first come first served basis by contacting kristen@mendingkids.org. The outstanding golf destination is the surprise!
