(WASHINGTON, DC) — In an effort to bring more joy and play to thousands of hospitalized children and their families this holiday season, Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), its subsidiary American Girl, along with Seventh Avenue and Swiss Colony of Colony Brands, Inc. are donating over $3.5 million in toys, dolls and holiday-themed gifts to children’s hospital members of the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA).
Now through the end of December, Mattel will donate one Mattel or Fisher-Price brand toy for each toy purchased online through its Share the Play program. Through the end of November, American Girl will match any 18-inch doll purchase made online, in-store, or via phone with a second doll donation (up to 1,000 dolls each day)—worth nearly $3 million. These toys and dolls will bring comfort to thousands of children receiving care in any of CHA’s 200 member hospitals across the country.
This month and next, Colony Brands, Inc. catalogs Seventh Avenue and Swiss Colony are delivering thousands of Roscoe the Reindeer plush animals and pre-assembled gingerbread houses to children’s hospitals to share with patients. Colony Brands, Inc. and its catalog subsidiaries provide customers with furniture, home décor, apparel, entertainment products, gifts and collectibles. The family-owned company is one of the largest direct marketers in the United States.
“For patients and families who must spend time in children’s hospitals through the end of December, the opportunity to be in the holiday spirit through play will be realized thanks to these toy and gift donations,” said Amy Wimpey Knight, CHA chief operating officer. “On behalf of the nation’s children’s hospitals we thank our corporate partners Mattel, American Girl, Seventh Avenue and Swiss Colony, for their tremendous generosity and support of the mission of children’s hospitals.”
