(April 6, 2016. Louisville, KY) Incredible illusions will take center stage during 9th annual “The Magic & The Wonder” to benefit Kosair Charities and The Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies. With four talented entertainers sharing the stage for a good cause, audiences of all ages are in for a night full of dazzling displays of deception and sidesplitting laughter.
Internationally renowned comedy magician and native Kentuckian Mac King headlines the show. Now in his 16th year as a headliner at Harrah’s Las Vegas, Mac King is known for jaw-dropping illusions like catching goldfish out of mid-air and making his head completely disappear in a paper bag. His quick wit, audience interaction and imaginative tricks have earned him worldwide acclaim and praise from fellow magicians like Penn & Teller. Joining Mac King on this night of family-friendly spectacles is ventriloquist Stephen Knowles (and his talking dog, Delmar), the vaudeville-inspired “professional eccentric” Charlie Frye, and local Louisville illusionists Patrick & Janice Miller.
Stephen Knowles is a Knoxville-based ventriloquist and writer. He has been performing comedy and magic routines for corporate events, community organizations and theatrical productions in the United States and Germany for more than 25 years. He has also produced pieces for other magicians, including a cup and balls routine that landed magician Ed Ripley an Award of Merit from the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
Charlie Frye is a fast-paced performer whose original and eccentric act has earned praise from audiences and entertainers worldwide, including Liza Minnelli, who called him “simply one of the best and brightest acts ever.” Inspired by variety shows of olden days, Charlie is an award-winning juggler. He performs onstage with his wife/assistant, Sherry.
Patrick & Janice Miller are no strangers to “The Magic & The Wonder” stage. The local Louisvillians have performed at previous installments in 2013 and 2011.
“The Magic & The Wonder” will be unleashed at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at Whitney Hall inside The Kentucky Center for the Arts. Doors open at 4 p.m. and early arrivals will be treated to close-up magic inside the lobby. Ticket prices are $17.50 to $34.50 and available through The Kentucky Center for the Arts Box Office or online at www.KentuckyCenter.org. All net proceeds from ticket sales support the children of Kosair Charities and the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies. For more information visit www.LouisvilleMagicShow.com.
