Press Release – New York, NY – May 31, 2016 – JASA, one of New York’s largest and most trusted agencies serving older adults, has appointed Alan Cohen as Chief Health Program Officer. In this role, Mr. Cohen will join the agency’s senior leadership team and focus on community health, wellness, and in-home services.
“Mr. Cohen brings to JASA extensive experience in strategic planning, program development and management, and information technology. His work will support JASA’s commitment to building an effective collaboration between human services and health care to best serve the City’s older residents,” said Kathryn Haslanger, JASA’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Today, we are experiencing a longevity revolution that should be celebrated — even as it challenges the fundamental ways that care has been delivered in the past,” said Cohen. “What a privilege it is to help grow existing services and develop new approaches to benefit all older New Yorkers. Mr. Cohen has over 20 years of knowledge and practice in the non-profit sector. His previous positions include Assistant Executive Vice President of Global Operations and Chief of Staff at the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC); Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Henry Schein, Inc.; and Senior Director of Strategic Planning at UJA – Federation of New York.
Mr. Cohen holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). He is proficient in Russian and Hebrew, and has published multiple articles in the Journal of Jewish Communal Service.
