Press Release – NEW CANAAN, CT – September 26, 2018 – Grace Farms Foundation today announced it has signed a Letter of Intent with the country of Georgia and Unchain, a new charity which was initiated by Grace Farms Foundation and key partners including WPP agencies Geometry Global, J. Walter Thompson, Thomson Reuters Labs and Cornell University’s Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise, as a step toward supporting Georgia’s commitment to build ethical and modern supply chains. Often an unseen reality along global supply chains, slavery is the world’s second largest criminal industry with more than 40 million victims. Together, in this significant declaration, Grace Farms Foundation, the country of Georgia, and Unchain will build a demonstrative business model for other countries on how to move toward a sustainable future, commit to supply chain transparency and combat contemporary slavery.
Recognized for its efforts in these areas by Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and fueled by the country’s deep commitment to creating an ethical business environment, Grace Farms Foundation’s collaboration will help forge a new path for public-private partnerships and create reverberating change worldwide.
“We believe that social impact requires systematic change,” said Sharon Prince, Chair and President of Grace Farms Foundation. “We hope this forward-thinking agreement and our multi-sector partnerships will become a catalyst for global economic change in some of the most pressing, yet ignored, humanitarian issues of our time. A future free of contemporary slavery is possible, and we are honored to work with the country of Georgia as a bold step forward towards making this a reality.”
In his remarks at the September 25 signing, Prime Minister Bakhtadze publicly announced that a formal Memorandum of Understanding will be signed in late October with Grace Farms Foundation and Unchain in Tbilisi, Georgia.
