New York, NY – The New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund today announced that they are once again teaming up as the Official Charity Partner for the upcoming Governors Ball – the live music festival taking place on Randall’s Island June 5th through June 7th.

This is the second year that the Benefit Fund, or “Answer the Call,” was selected as the Official Charity Partner for the event.

During the festival, Answer the Call will have a tent set up where concert goers can charge their phones for a small donation. In addition, Governors Ball is selling Answer the Call baseball caps on their website – with all proceeds going directly to aid the families of New York City’s fallen first responders.

“We hope that the thousands of attendees and concert goers will take some time in between the all-star performances to ‘Answer the Call’ for the families of first responders – and literally recharge their batteries,” said Arielle Lenza Di Ciollo, Director of Development at the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. “We are extremely grateful to the Governors Ball team for giving us this opportunity to support the families of our fallen heroes. They have shown once again that New York Takes Care Of Its Own.”

The Festival is sponsored by Founders Entertainment, which calls the 2015 lineup for Governors Ball its best yet. Organizers say they’ll build on past experience to maximize the potential for fun in a comfortable, safe, and visually entertaining environment.

“This June will be a celebration of our 5th anniversary as NYC’s premier music festival,” said Jordan Wolowitz, a partner at Founders Entertainment. “We would like to send our most sincere thanks to the fans and artists across the globe that have helped make Governors Ball what it is today, as well as to the Randall’s Island Parks Alliance, who has been an incredible partner to us over the years. It is an honor to bring high quality music and entertainment while at the same time helping great causes like Answer the Call.” Governors Ball 2014 helped generate more than 300 new jobs, many of them in the East Harlem and the South Bronx, the communities which surround Randall’s Island.
