Press Release – State College, PA – For the third consecutive year, the Centre County Commissioners have proclaimed May 8-9 as Centre Gives Days in Centre County.
Centre Gives, a project of Centre Foundation, is a 36-hour online giving event designed for local people to support Centre County—loving where they live and giving where they live.
Commissioners Michael Pipe, Mark Higgins, and Steve Dersham voted unanimously to make the proclamation.
This year, over 160 organizations will be participating in Centre Gives. These organizations serve Centre County residents in the areas of arts, animals, education, environment, and health and social services.
“For the second year in a row, the Hamer Foundation has generously doubled the Centre Gives stretch pool to $200,000, which means that gifts will go further during Centre Gives,” explained Molly Kunkel, Executive Director of Centre Foundation. “Donors are also encouraged to help their favorite nonprofits win some of the $25,000 in prizes that are offered throughout the event.”
Since Centre Gives launched in 2012, over $5.4 million has been invested into Centre County’s local nonprofit network. Over 32,400 gifts were made, benefitting more than 150 local organizations.
Centre Gives 2018 is sponsored by many forward-thinking members of our community, including the Hamer Foundation, First National Bank, Nestlerode and Loy Investment Advisors, M&T Bank, Morgan Stanley, Balfurd Dry Cleaners, Frost & Conn, The Mazza Law Group, Baker Tilly, Tom and Sara Songer of the Torron Group, and an anonymous donor.
Centre Gives begins on Tuesday, May 8 at 8 am and concludes on Wednesday, May 9 at 8 pm. Donations can be made at CentreGives.org
