Donation to fund free summer camps for children of wounded, injured, ill or fallen veterans
Press Release – RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct.26, 2018) — Camp Corral received a donation of $1,820,658 from Golden Corral at its annual convention in San Francisco this month. The donated funds were raised through Golden Corral’s annual in-restaurant fundraising campaign, reliant on the generosity of valued guests and restaurant teams and in partnership with local DAV chapters. The charitable gift will assist with providing a free week of summer camp for the children of wounded, injured, ill or fallen military service members.
Camp Corral, a dedicated supporter of military families, provides children ages eight to 15 with a free, once-in-a-lifetime week at summer camp where they are free to escape the challenges they face as military children. Camp Corral partners with camps across the nation to provide an experience that is fun, unique and challenging under the watchful eye of highly trained staff. Additionally, a military and family life counselor is available at each camp.
“Our research shows that the experience we provide to our campers makes a lasting impact, mentally and socially,” said Leigh Longino, CEO of Camp Corral. “Every year, with the support of Golden Corral and its generous customers and staff, we’re able to provide our services to more and more of these young heroes. We truly appreciate the support and unique partnership that equips us to provide this service to our nation’s military youth and their families.”
Camp Corral was founded in 2011 by Golden Corral and has received consistent support in its mission to serve military families from its founding company.
With thousands of children remaining on the waitlist every year, contributions to Camp Corral can be made at any participating Golden Corral restaurant or by visiting the organization’s website, or mailed to the Camp Corral office located at 801 N. West Street, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603.
