Beer & Buns Partners With City Harvest to Fight Hunger in New York City

The restaurant which opened in March 2014 is donating a portion of proceeds from sales of its $250 Indulgence Burger

New York, NY – June 4, 2014Beer & Buns (B&B), home to the famed $250 Indulgence Burger is proud to announce a partnership with City Harvest. Serving New York City for more than 30 years, City Harvest is the world’s first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city’s hungry men, women and children. Effective starting June 15th, patrons who purchase the $250 burger will be dining for a worthy cause as 10% of the proceeds will benefit the anti-hunger organization.

“City Harvest appreciates the support of Beer & Buns in the fight against hunger in New York City,” said Kyle Clifford, Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships for City Harvest. “Nearly two million New Yorkers are facing hunger, and we will work hard this year to rescue 46 million pounds of food and deliver it to hundreds of community food programs across the city.”

“City Harvest is an extraordinary organization and St Giles Hotels and B&B are honored to be able to assist City Harvest in their anti-hunger efforts – they are also a key partner in our soon to be unveiled Hotels with a Heart Program,” said Abigail Tan, Head of St Giles Hotels, Europe, United Kingdom and United States. “We hope to announce further details on the Hotels with a Heart Program later this year; suffice to say we intend to be involved heavily in helping local communities and non-profit organizations.”

Beer & Buns, which opened at The Court, a St Giles Premier Hotel in late March 2014, features traditional and Pan-Asian inspired burgers, sliders and a selection of craft brews and international beers. Hailing from Thailand, Chef Nok showcases the flavors of his hometown, Thailand fused with that of his adopted country of America. His signature Indulgence Burger priced at $250 is comprised of house specialty Kobe beef, foie gras, caviar and black truffles sautéed in Sauternes, served on a homemade artisanal bun.

Other B&B favorites include the Kuala Lumpur Zest (a Malaysian inspired burger with chicken breast marinated in satay sauce and served with a creamy peanut butter sauce); the Phuket Fantasy (lump crab cake patty spiced with Thai green curry); the Seoul Secret which pays homage to nearby Korea Town and is stuffed with slow cooked short ribs with vegetables, fresh herbs, red wine, Korean barbeque sauce and served on a “mantou bun;” and the Grouper on Fire which is a fish filet fried in Chef Nok’s homemade spicy chill sauce and sweet basil served on an onion brioche bun.

Featured beers span the globe including Xingu from Brazil (a surprisingly smooth beer with a gentle malty flavor); Estrella Galicia from Spain (crisp, refreshing lager beer from the north of Spain); Blanche de Bruxelles from Belgium (wheat beer with an interesting finish, steeped in coriander and orange peels); and Kingfisher from India (premium lager brewed to the highest international standards). Local favorites such as Blue Moon; Harpoon UFO; Founder All Day IPA; Founder’s Robust; New Planet; and Mother’s Milk also feature heavily on the menu.

From Monday through Sunday, breakfast is held during the hours of 7:00 am to 11:00 am, lunch is 11:30 am to 3:30 pm and dinners are 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
