American Ambassador Of Animal Rights To Join Local Government Officials At News Conference To Call For The Implementation Of Animal Welfare And Protection Laws In Nicaragua And To Promote Pet Adoption Among American Tourists

Press Release – Managua, Nicaragua – (June 3, 2016) – New York based animal rights activist and humanitarian Jean Shafiroff, known in the American media as a Global Ambassador for animal rights, will join local government officials at a press conference to raise awareness of animal welfare and protection in Nicaragua and promote pet adoption among tourists from the United States,Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:30 AM (local time), Hotel Intercontinental, Paseo de la Unión Europea, Managua, Nicaragua, Shafiroff, who has been honored by the U.S. Congress for rescuing tens of thousands of animals around the world, will conduct a tour of animal shelters across the country and make a significant donation to Nicaraguan animal rights causes.

In April, hundreds of people and their pets took to the streets of Nicaragua’s capital waving posters and banners, and chanting slogans to protest for the implementation of the Animal Welfare and Protection Law and for tougher punishment for those who abuse animals. They called on the National Assembly to implement the law in favor of animal rights. The Animal Welfare and Protection Law were approved, but animal lovers in Nicaragua hope the legislation will now be implemented to prevent and deal with animal abuse. A few years ago there were several incidences of pet dogs that were shot and killed with arrows causing major concern for animal abuse.
