4-day event offers the latest in adaptive technologies along with notable speakers
Press Release – FORT COLLINS, Colo. (June 2, 2016) – Showing people how to rise above the challenges they face, the No Barriers Summit is a 4-day event unlike any other that transforms adversity into an advantage. Registration is now open for this accessible conference held June 23-26 in Copper Mountain.
In its 8th year, thousands of people of all abilities from around the world are expected to attend this year’s Summit. Participants can experience more than 50 adaptive activities in sports, adventure, art and education, be motivated by speakers and celebrities, and be inspired by some of the most creative and innovative technologies, products and services helping improve lives and break barriers.
“It’s been a goal of mine to get back outside since my climbing accident where I injured my spinal cord,” said Michelle Kephart, a Summit scholarship winner. “As a quadriplegic, many adaptive sports are not quite suited for me to do independently, so I’m most excited to participate in the wheelchair accessible ropes course and find new ways to reconnect with nature.”
“Whether you are disabled, able-bodied or something in between, we all have barriers and challenges to overcome in our lives,” said David Shurna, No Barriers Executive Director. “The No Barriers Summit challenges your perception of what’s possible and unites us all on a deeper level to create a larger community to ignite change.”

About No Barriers
Formed in 2003, the No Barriers mission is to unleash the potential of the human spirit by creating transformative experiences, tools and inspiration for people of all backgrounds and abilities. The organization operates at the intersection of two fundamentally human experiences: 1) we all crave purpose; and 2) barriers get in our way. Curriculum is based on creating a mindset for success that allows participants to harness adversity, break through barriers and create lives of impact. Mindsets are difficult to teach and even harder to embrace, which is why No Barriers believes in authentic immersion experiences that push individuals outside of their comfort zones, challenging them intellectually, emotionally or physically. Because we all share a desire for purpose and we all face barriers, No Barriers serves a remarkably diverse range of participants including, though not limited to: diverse youth ages 10-21, wounded warriors, adults with disabilities and employees from companies.
