Insomniac and eBay For Charity Announce The Shade Tree as 2016 EDC Week Charity Auction Recipient

Additional details will be announced on Monday, April 25

Las Vegas – Yesterday, Insomniac – the production company behind North America’s largest dance music festival, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas – revealed to Las Vegas nonprofit, The Shade Tree, that they had been selected as beneficiary of Insomniac’s second annual “EDC Week Charity Auction.” Insomniac representatives, The Shade Tree’s Board of Trustees, and women and children residing at the shelter were all in attendance for the exciting news.

“The Shade Tree is an incredible nonprofit that offers hope and shelter for thousands of families. We are blessed that with the support of our Headliners, and the success and passion of dance music culture, we are able to give back to such a worthy cause,” said Pasquale Rotella, CEO and Founder of Insomniac. “Providing unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences through our EDC Week Charity Auction will directly benefit those in need. I am humbled to have met the staff and residents of The Shade Tree and heard their incredible stories of strength.”

The Shade Tree is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women, children and their pets affected by domestic violence and crisis in the Las Vegas valley. Last year, the charity provided nearly 6,000 women and children with a viable living space at the shelter. With the money generated from this year’s EDC Week Charity Auction, Insomniac will help reimagine The Shade Tree’s Children’s Activity Center (CAC), an arts and education space designed to inspire and encourage a positive and healthy atmosphere for the youth being served at the shelter.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled that Insomniac has chosen us as their partner for the EDC Week Charity Auction this year,” said Marlene Richter, Executive Director of The Shade Tree. “With the remodel of the CAC, we will be able to bring joy, art and creativity into the lives of the many children that call the shelter home.”

Following the success of the first-ever “EDC Week Charity Auction” in 2015, Insomniac has once again partnered with eBay For Charity to produce a 10-day auction where EDC fans can bid on unbelievable experiences, giving them exclusive access to the festival, the artists, multiple Las Vegas hot spots and more. Last year, the auction raised approximately $70,000 for Culture Shock Las Vegas, a nonprofit that seeks to steer youth away from substance abuse, violence and hatred through performance art and dance. Additional details surrounding the “EDC Week Charity Auction” will be announced on Monday, April 25.

EDC Las Vegas returns to Las Vegas Motor Speedway from dusk until dawn June 17 – 19, 2016 to celebrate “20 Years Under The Electric Sky.” The three-day weekend will transport hundreds of thousands of fans into a fully immersive carnival-like playground with mind-bending audiovisual displays, larger-than-life interactive art, festive theatrical performers, neon-lit amusement rides and much more.
