Network for Good Launches Fundraising Readiness Project

Program Helps Nonprofit Leaders Build Plans to Fund Missions

Press Release – WASHINGTON, DC – Network for Good is proud to announce the Fundraising Readiness Project, a training program that helps nonprofit leaders raise more funds and develop sustainable donor outreach plans. The Project builds the fundraising capacity of small nonprofits through 12 months of online learning, toolkits and a multi-city training tour.

Through the first how-to series designed to help Executive Directors and Board Chairs understand fundraising, nonprofits now have access to the resources they need to expand and diversify their organizations’ donor networks. Each month, the Project will focus on one aspect of successful fundraising that nonprofits need to master – from building a diverse donor list to preparing the board to support fundraising.

“While large, established organizations have many of the resources to address the challenge of increasing demand and shrinking funds, the vast majority nonprofits—small and emerging organizations—do not have the ability to easily adapt to these changes,” said Bill Strathmann, CEO of Network for Good. “We created the Fundraising Readiness Project to help Executive Directors and Board Chairs stabilize and diversify revenue to sustain the programs and promises of their missions.”

While much of the U.S. economy has experienced a slow but steady recovery from 2008’s recession, many of the country’s 1.6 million nonprofits have not. Cuts to public funding mean that many nonprofits face increased demand for their services while their funding remains static or decreases. When surveyed, 80 percent of charities reported an increased demand for their services, but 56 percent said they could not meet that demand because of a lack of resources. Especially hurt have been small, local charities that lack the scale to respond easily to changes in demand or in funding sources.

The Fundraising Readiness Project offers online learning and training events in communities around the country – visit www.FundraisingReadinessProject.com to learn more and enroll in the program.
