Moving company awards $3000 to student who demonstrates extraordinary musical talent
New York, NY – Dumbo Moving & Storage, the New York area’s largest residential moving companies by transactions, has announced the winner of its Dumbo Moving “Moving Forward” Scholarship. The winner, Nenad Ivovic, was chosen out of a pool of 170 eligible applicants and will receive a $3,000 scholarship to go towards his studies as a professional pianist.
“Our goal with the scholarship was to give back to the community and recognize a student who clearly possesses the passion and talent that was extraordinary,” said Lior Rachmany, CEO and founder of Dumbo Moving + Storage. “It was inspiring to see the quality and quantity of so many remarkable and talented applicants who really have the desire and the drive to pursue their career aspirations. In the end, we went with Nenad Ivovic because of his undeniable talent and strong commitment to become a renowned pianist ahead of his generation.”
Ivovic, a 21-year-old student, is originally from Serbia and received his Master’s Degree in Music from Buchman-Mehta School of Music in Israel. This scholarship will help Nenad attend one of the most prestigious piano master classes at SUNY New Paltz School of Fine and Performing Arts this summer. The master’s class is part of the preparation for his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) studies.
“I am immensely grateful to Dumbo Moving for giving me the opportunity to participate in one of the most renowned master classes for pianists in the world and for helping me to visit the USA for the first time,” said Ivovic. “Their financial support means a lot to me and encourages me to continue with my dream to succeed as a pianist.”
The scholarship was open to students in both the United States and abroad and applicants were judged based on a list of general submission criteria, including: awards from different state, national or international competitions, GPA and talents. Applicants were also asked to submit their resume, a 500-word essay explaining why Dumbo Moving should choose them, and a copy of a personalized video displaying their talent.
