Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Names Guy Carpenter’s Britt Newhouse to National Board of Governors

New York (March 3, 2015) – The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has named Britt Newhouse, Chairman of Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, to its National Board of Governors.

Mr. Newhouse joins 20 other senior insurance industry executives on the National Board. Guy Carpenter’s leadership in IICF is also present via two other board memberships: James C. Wackerman and Urban Koagedal, representing IICF Northeast and Western Divisions, respectively.

“Mr. Newhouse’s extraordinary leadership through his years at Guy Carpenter will be a tremendously valuable asset to our National Board of Governors,” said Bill Ross, CEO of the IICF. “We welcome him among the ever-growing contingent of Guy Carpenter supporters and board members that exist throughout IICF.”

Mr. Newhouse has served as Chairman of Guy Carpenter since 2008. From 2001 to 2008, he was the President and CEO of the firm’s Americas operations, where he was responsible for all broking business in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Mr. Newhouse also held the position of Eastern Regional Manager and served as the New York Branch Manager. He joined Guy Carpenter in 1979.

He previously served on both the Education Committee and on the Board of Overseers for St. John’s University, School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science. He is also a former member of the Brokers and Reinsurance Markets Association (BRMA) board of directors.

The IICF’s National Board of Governors is responsible for managing the organization’s national endowment fund as well as establishing overarching strategy and plans throughout the IICF’s national and regional footprints. Comprised of 21 senior leaders from across the insurance industry, the board is chaired by Gary Petrosino of Chubb & Son.
