Greeks Advocate to End Sexual Violence

SDSU Greek organizations will host a week of events to raise awareness about sexual violence.

The San Diego State University Greek community is taking a stand against sexual violence.

Students in the Greek community worked with Greek Life and Health Promotion staff to develop a series titled “Join Us: A Sexual Violence Prevention and Awareness Series.”

This series is just one of the steps leaders of SDSU’s Greek community are taking to address the issue of sexual violence on campus.

Feb. 16 – No Silence, No Violence: Jessica Yaffa

7 p.m., Montezuma Hall
Yaffa operates “No Silence, No Violence,” a non-profit organization committed to providing education, training, resources, and community development in order to eliminate stigma surrounding relationship abuse and sexual assault.

Feb. 17 – “My Masculinity Helps”

5 p.m., Montezuma Hall
A screening of the film “My Masculinity Helps,” followed by a round table discussion about the film.

Feb. 18 – How We All Can Prevent Sexual Assault

6 p.m., Templo Mayor
FratMANers will give a presentation on how the campus can come together to help fight against sexual assault, which will be followed by an open house.

Feb. 19 – Supporting Survivors, Survivor Stories and a Panel Discussion of Resources at SDSU

7 p.m., Montezuma Hall
Jasmin Enriquez, founder of Only with Consent, will open the evening telling her story as a survivor of sexual assault. Following her narrative, there will be a panel of survivors as well as campus resources regarding sexual violence at SDSU.

Feb. 23 – Understanding Women in Leadership, a film screening, “Miss Representation”

7 p.m., Montezuma Hall
A film screening of “Miss Representation” with a discussion around women in leadership.
