Website targets families, volunteers and donors with information tailored to their interests
HOUSTON, February 12, 2014 – Ronald McDonald House Houston, which provides a home away from home to families with seriously ill children, has launched a bright and happy new website powered by Tendenci Open Source Content Management System (www.tendenci.com). The upgraded website, www.rmhhouston.org, features many of Tendenci’s unique capabilities that cause-related organizations including associations and other nonprofits (NPOs) need, such as donor and fundraising management, online event management and rich media management.
Ronald McDonald House Houston offers a safe and loving environment to provide care, compassion and hope to families whose children are being treated at Texas Medical Center member institutions for life threatening conditions. Over its 32 years, the organization has expanded to encompass 86 bedrooms at 8 locations throughout the Texas Medical Center. The newly upgraded website prominently features buttons that link the organization’s key communities – families, volunteers and donors – to portions of the website tailored to their specific interests.
Tendenci is the only open source CMS platform designed for the unique needs of NPOs.
“The fact that Tendenci is open source is important because it gives us a lot of flexibility and we can do a lot more things than we could with our previous website,” said Catie Tuley, marketing coordinator with Ronald McDonald House Houston. “Our new website does a great job of encouraging the community to get involved in various ways – by making an online donation, hosting a meal, donating items on our ‘Wish List’, or launching a fundraising campaign of their own.”
Ronald McDonald House Houston uses Tendenci’s CMS to easily add, update and organize website content, encouraging users to keep coming back. To feature evidence of the organization’s good works, the website uses Tendenci’s integrated rich media management to easily upload, view and search photos. Tendenci’s online event management enables Ronald McDonald House Houston to quickly and easily add events to its online calendar.
Behind the scenes, the website enables the organization to sort and analyze the activity of website users, making it possible to improve delivery of services to families based on user behaviors and to better target and tailor marketing initiatives. Tendenci’s built-in invoicing and financial reporting capabilities enable Ronald McDonald House Houston to examine which fundraising activities are performing. Tendenci also includes built-in automatic search engine optimization and social media integration.
Tendenci Open Source CMS was released as an open source solution to give cause-related organizations greater freedom and control over their online presence. Tendenci has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for organizations around the world, including Metropolitan New York Library Council (www.metro.org), Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org) and Depelchin™ Children’s Center (www.depelchin.org).
