US SIF Lisa Woll Issues Statement In Response To The Administration’s Executive Order To Roll Back The Clean Power Plan

Press Release – Washington, D.C., March 28, 2017 – Lisa Woll, CEO of US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment released the following statement today in response to the Trump Administration’s executive order to roll back the Clean Power Plan:

“On behalf of our 300 plus members, US SIF believes the Administration should be working aggressively to reduce carbon in the atmosphere and that this executive order accomplishes the opposite.

“Already, the United States is paying a high economic price from the ravages of severe drought, wildfires and storms associated with increased atmospheric levels of carbon. This is not the time to retreat from the call to protect current and succeeding generations from the catastrophic implications of further, unrestrained climate change.

“The electrical power sector is the source of one-third of US greenhouse gas emissions and is a key part of any plan to curb emissions and address climate change. The Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan will advance public health and benefit US consumers by helping to unleash investment in clean energy sources. It is also key to America’s international commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025.

“The US SIF Foundation’s 2016 survey of sustainable and impact investment assets in the United States found that money managers with $1.42 trillion in assets under management and institutional asset owners with $2.15 trillion in assets consider climate change risk in their investment analysis, more than three times the assets so affected in 2014.

“Today’s decision sends the wrong signal to the investment community, to the American people and to America’s international partners in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Instead of retreating, this Administration should be leading the charge to unleash investment in clean energy sources, drive innovation and bolster international efforts to curb climate change. It is critical that the Environmental Protection Agency can move forward on the Clean Power Plan and maintain the necessary staffing and expertise to protect our air, water and land for future generations.”

One Response to US SIF Lisa Woll Issues Statement In Response To The Administration’s Executive Order To Roll Back The Clean Power Plan

  • Nearly all the respondents agree that Barron should be left alone and not subjected to public scrutiny and comment. I wonder why all these people came here to read about Barron? Were they just here to scold the masses ? I agree we should not be cruel and bully kids from any background. I also think our President’s family has fascinated Americans as a symbol of people reflecting our collective family values. We want to look up to them as an example of who we are, or who we want to be. The Trump administration is turning out to be a Presidency like no other! The mold has been tossed away. We have a First family that does not appear to want to live in the WH. Our president stays there during the week, and then jets off to one of his resorts. His beautiful wife is sequestered at the Trump Tower with Barron. She tells us that a boy Barron’s age needs his mother to be there. We also hear that Melania is a recluse and there are rumors that Barron, except for school, is isolated on his own floor, at home. These stories, real or unfounded are disturbing. Most of our first families have been composed of vivacious/charming people who enjoy The WH lifestyle. I believe most Americans feel sorry for this child. That video on U tube exploring Barron’s possible diagnosis of Autism or Asberger’s raised the issue of what is going on with this family? One would think that by now, newly elected presidents and their families would be counseled and coached about the PR aspects of being First Family. It’s as if Melania is clueless about what to expect. Americans are baffled Truth be told, the WH is no place for secretive people, or introverted people for that matter. A few weeks ago Ivanka held a press conference denying her role as First Lady, I heard her say to effect, we can only have 1 first lady. She did not, however, state who that person would be. Now we learn the title of “Office of First Lady” is no more. The big news is about the very active role Ivanka will play in her father’s administration. The city of NY is very unhappy with all the problems associated with Melania’s insistence on remaining in NYC, Barron’s school is also unhappy about the security risks. This story is not just about Barron being autistic. It’s about a mystifying first family going to DC and not really loving it.
