Miracle Flights and World Pediatric Project Continue Mission of Hope for Sick Children

To-Date, More Than 700 Children Have Received Care in Low Resource Countries

Press Release – LAS VEGAS and RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Since combining efforts to combat inaccessibility to healthcare, the philanthropic partnership between Miracle Flights and World Pediatric Project has resulted in the treatment of 712 children throughout the Caribbean and Central America.

To-date, Miracle Flights has flown 15 World Pediatric Project (WPP) medical teams to partner countries, culminating in 274 procedures and 773 consultations for children in need.

Three medical teams traveled during the month of January alone – general surgery to St. Vincent & the Grenadines, ophthalmology to Belize and plastic surgery to Honduras.

“Miracle Flights is delighted to hear how many children have received care,” said Miracle Flights CEO, Mark E. Brown. “At the heart of our mission is bridging the distance gap between children and doctors, and this partnership allows us to expand that mission. We’re looking forward to helping more and more kids in the coming months.”

“Because of Miracle Flight’s generous support, World Pediatric Project is delivering life-changing and often life-saving care to children who urgently need our help,” WPP CEO Susan Rickman said. “While we’re fortunate in our country to have ready access to quality pediatric resources, in most low resource countries, access to advanced pediatric surgical and critical care just doesn’t exist.”

By the end of June, Miracle Flights will have funded airline travel for 43 WPP pediatric surgery teams. These teams conduct week-long missions to eight countries, providing diagnostic and surgical care for an average of 45 to 60 children during each mission.
