Global Movement, I TALK TO STRANGERS®, Challenges Social Norms

Joining the HooplaHa Network to Take Small Talk to the Next Level

New York, NY – I TALK TO STRANGERS® (ITTS) is a social movement bringing the world together through conversation founded by Robbie Stokes, Jr. in 2012. Stokes had an idea to start conversations with people he did not know, so he quit his job on Capitol Hill to travel the globe and document what would happen if he simply talked to strangers. Teaming up with digital network HooplaHa, the ITTS YouTube channel will follow the movement every step of the journey with instructional videos, Pop-Up Socials, conversation starters and incredible stories of what can happen when you dare to share with a stranger. HooplaHa.com is a multi-platform digital network committed to conveying positive, thought-provoking good news and fun content.

“I wanted to have some impact to change the world but lately I’ve been hearing that the true impact is connecting the world, ” says Stokes. “I sold everything. All of my possessions fit into two suitcases. Legitimately four pairs of jeans, five shirts, four pairs of socks, a pair of tennis shoes, and a dream.”

In 2014 the I TALK TO STRANGERS® Across Borders Tour, an annual international trip encouraging dialogue and engagement among cultures, plans to visit 99 cities screening the soon-to-be launched documentary and spreading the movement.

Stokes ends their latest video questioning the social norms we were raised on, pointing out “Mom always said don’t talk to strangers, but what if mom was wrong?”

“With all of HooplaHa’s channel partners like I TALK TO STRANGERS®, we produce uplifting original web series and individual stories meant to be enjoyed and widely shared by all,” said executive Rob Hess. New videos on the I TALK TO STRANGERS® YouTube channel will premiere every Tuesday.
