A New Generation of Philanthropists Raise Over $380,000 to Grant Wishes of Children with Life-Threatening Illnesses

The New Leadership Council of Make-A-Wish® Metro New York Hosts Sixth Annual WishNYC: A Toast to Wishes

November 23, 2015, New York, NY – Over 600 exuberant and generous young professionals gathered last Thursday for the 6th annual WishNYC: A Toast to Wishes to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Metro New York. The evening raised over $380,000 and counting, bringing the event’s 6-year fundraising total to $1.9 million. Proceeds raised from the night help grant the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.

The event’s powerhouse Host Committee, led by Zach Coopersmith, Alli Holzberg and Lauren Goodrich, along with the Make-A-Wish Metro New York New Leadership Council (NLC), welcomed guests to the sold-out event, at Marquee NYC, with another 250 attending the exclusive after-party at Gilded Lily. Guests enjoyed a premium open bar sponsored by The Patron Spirits Company, Tito’s Vodka, Manhattan Beer and Southern Wine & Spirits, passed food from Luke’s Lobster, Takumi Taco, Eddie’s Pizza Truck, Batter & Cream, and Dough, music by DJ’s Chachi and Rick Wonder, plus a premium mobile bidding silent auction with 70+ high-end items.

WishNYC: A Toast to Wishes has become one of the most talked about parties of its kind in the Metro New York area, successfully introducing young professionals to the Make-A-Wish mission.

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York has fulfilled the wishes of more than 13,000 children, almost 11,000 of them residing in the Metro New York area. In Fiscal Year 2015, the chapter touched the lives of 876 wish children and their families by granting the wishes of 617 local children and facilitating 259 wish assists for children who reside in other areas, but whose wishes took place in New York.
